Rosario Barquín, Spanish but born in Mexico, has a Bachelor degree in American Anthropology from the Universidad Complutense of Madrid, as well as a Bachelor degree in Management Information Systems from the University of Maryland. She was interested in plastic arts since her childhood, and at the end of the 80´s she met the painter Teresa Muñiz, in whose workshop she got deeply involved in the worlds of light and shadow, colour, form, texture and composition. In 1995 she became interested in trompe lóeil , a technique traditionally used in churches and palaces which she learnt with Ignacio Luca de Tena. Between 1995 and 1997 she took courses in etching and also in lithography, in 2002, with Encarna Cepedal, senior professor at the Facultad de Bellas Artes of the Universidad of Bilbao. In 2007 she made an outer double mural on the bookshop door of Editorial Complutense, in 63 Donoso Cortés, a Madrilenian street. Swimming, as usual , between Surrealism and Abstraction, at present she alternates acrylic techniques on larger formats with watercolor on lighter, more spontaneus and subtle compositions of smaller size, as well as digital works.
